16.12.11 Devos Lemmens introduces new dispenser

The new sauce dispenser of Devos Lemmens is designed for the professional sector of delis and cafeterias. The handy dispenser excels in usability and hygienic work. The device has a perfect dose, resulting in a high efficiency and no residue. In this process we have provided the design and realization of the product for Devos Lemmens, from a strong brand experience and added value for consumers. Up.

06.12.11 Team reinforced with designer and engineer

Our team is reinforced with ir. Tommie van Cranenbroek and ir. Bas Groenendaal. Tommie has an extensive experience in the development of home theater accessories. He finished the IPO in The Hague and has a Master’s degree Integrated Product Design (IPD) at TU Delft. Bas has his education in Industrial Design, taught at the University of Eindhoven and has a background in developing interactive play material. Up.

01.12.11 Smit Visual receives Office Products Awards

During the Convenience & Paper Show in Rosmalen, the Benelux Office Products Awards 2011 have been awarded. Smit Visual Supplies received two awards, of which one in the category Office Interior / Accessories. This product was developed by GBO DESIGN in close collaboration with Smit Visual from first sketch to 3D CAD files for serial production. Up.

30.11.11 Brand Brabant at GBO

Thursday, November 25, several journalists visited Brabant ‘design pearls’ with ’Merk Brabant’ (Brand Brabant), including Vlisco and GBO DESIGN in Helmond. Merk Brabant is an initiative of the Province of Brabant. The province organizes these trips for journalists to visit unique Brabant companies. Besides explanation of the design process the 3D printer was demonstrated.

28.11.11 Workshop for Food Design & Innovation students HAS at GBO

Students of Food Design & Innovation of the HAS visited GBO on November 21 under the supervision of teacher and Food Designer Annelies Hermsen. GBO sponsors the HAS with Solid Works CAD programs that are provided for by Cadmes. GBO also assists teachers from the HAS with Packaging Design and engineering. 22.11.11 Bobike Mini City and Bobox nominated for Baby Innovation Award

The Bobike Mini City and the Bobox have been nominated for the Baby Innovation Award 2012 (Dutch only). A jury has tested the products for usability, design, safety and innovation. The final winners will be announced during the Negenmaandenbeurs (Nine Months fair, Dutch only). Up.

17.11.11 LINEARdrive listed in IES Progress Report

EldoLED’s LINEARdrive 720D driver for LED lights has been recognized by the Illuminating Engineering Society as a unique and significant advancement to the art and science of lighting in the 2011 IES Progress Report. It is a continuation of the trend started in 2010 that saw SOLOdrive, DUALdrive and POWERdrive AC listed in the 2010 IES Progress Report.

The driver was designed and engineered by GBO DESIGN, whereas it’s manufactured and supplied by GBO PROJECTS in China. Up.

28.10.11 Ozark Henry plays ‘4 Hands’ on Doutreligne 7

Belgian singer-songwriter Ozark Henry plays on the Doutreligne Seven during his intimate tour ‘4 Hands’. The artist rewrote a selection from his repertoire to be played on two pianos. Didier Deruyter plays alongside Ozark Henry on one of the two snow-white grand pianos GBO designed for Piano’s Maene.

25.10.11 GIO for Tulpi and GBO at DDW!

The Tulpi has been awarded a Goed Industrieel Ontwerp Erkenning (Good Industrial Design Award)! The tulip-shaped chair was developed by designer Marco Manders in collaboration with GBO DESIGN. The recognition will be awarded on Tuesday, October 25 at the Dutch Design Week in the Klokgebouw, Eindhoven. Until October 30, the chair is on display at three locations in the Klokgebouw: at the GIO awards, at the exhibition “Made in Brainport” and at GBO’s booth at the ‘Going Dutch’ exhibition.

Update: Besides the GIO Award, Tulpi has also won the Special Award for most Original Design! Up.

12.10.11 GBO wins Henry van de Velde label for Doutreligne 7

The Henry van de Velde Label is a quality label for Flemish design. The label recognizes the authenticity, innovation, creativity, workmanship and value of the product and guarantees its quality to the general public. The label is a recognition for the vision of designer and producer.

The jury was instructed to make a strict selection of the 114 products that competed for a label this year. After two selection rounds the jury finally decided to grant the Henry van de Velde Label to eight products, including the new grand piano Doutreligne Seven , designed by GBO DESIGN for Piano’s Maene.

05.10.11 Kroonring nominated for innovation award at Energy & Environment Exhibition 2011

GBO Projects received an Environmental Innovation 2011 nomination for the Kroonring (Crown ring, Dutch only) at the the Energy & Environment Exhibition 2011 (Dutch only) in Den Bosch. In 2010 the Kroonring obtained the highest ranking of Southeast-Brabant concerning the SME Innovation Award, organized by Syntens and Bizz. 

The Kroonring is a plastic ring which supports collecting separated waste and is a proprietary product of GBO Projects which is sold to Dutch municipalities. Up.

03.10.11 New environmentally friendly invention from Brabant: AIRMAX

Contronics and GBO DESIGN introduce a new environmentally friendly product at the Energy & Environment Exhibition 2011 (Dutch only): the AIRMAX. Both companies are members of the Groeiversneller Project (Growth Accelerator, Dutch only) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs. 

The AIRMAX is a solar-powered device that activates oxygen. Activated Oxygen breaks down odor molecules into harmless components. This makes the product ideal for being placed on waste-containers or locations where odor is a nuisance. Up.

This year, some designers GBO visited the Kind & Jugend fair for inspiration.

Also, the new Luma series bath and care products enhanced with new products were introduced at the fair.

21.09.11 Introducing the new front seat for Bobike City at Eurobike

After the successful introduction of the rear seat in 2010, the new front seat Bobike City is introduced.

In particular, the design, new features, new materials and the transport crate are very well received by the general public.

19.09.11 Holland Food Camp inspires entrepreneur

Holland Food Camp is an alliance of four parties that are well known in the world of food: market researcher Altuïtion, communication agency Imagro, concept developer Koos & Co’s and GBO Design. They have joined forces and will open an office next October at the Green Campus, Helmond for the SME entrepreneur with questions about product innovation, concept development and consumer marketing.

Ultimately, the ambition of the participants of Camp Holland Food is to grow into a breeding ground for creativity and inspiration. In 2013, the concept must have become a leader for ‘inspiration and innovation in food “ in the Southeast Netherlands.

16.09.11 Food4Future: Food4Sports What’s the level of sports of your idea?

On the 31st of October the nominated participants of Food4Future present their ideas during a symposium on ‘De Groene Campus’ in the city of Helmond.

This initiative is supported by GBO Design and the theme this year is Food4Sports. In the past years several concepts from Food4Future are even produced and successfully marketed. The most surprising and innovative food ideas will be visualized by GBO Design.

14.09.11 GBO PROJECTS seen at the Grand Prix of Roggel, The Netherlands

Racing the streets of the Dutch village Roggel Monday September 12th, Formula 1 driver Jenson Button in his Vodafone McLaren Mercedes MP4-24 was being chased by three locals, driving the same track on simulators. Vodafone organised the GP of Roggel in cooperation with the municipality of Leudal of which Roggel is a part of.

Putting the car through it’s paces in the streets of the small village with 260 km/h Jenson Button took advantage of the for this day only build 2,6km circuit using streets with maximum speed allowance of 30 km/h normally.

09.09.11 GBO presents new products at DDW

During the Dutch Design Week GBO takes part in the exhibition Going Dutch. From Saturday 22 to Sunday October 30 GBO exhibits in the ‘Klokgebouw’ at Strijp-S. GBO presents a new product for Heineken and the Power BIKE of Power Plate. Up.

29.08.11 “Enterprising Helmond innovates”

On Tuesday, September 6th, the entrepreneurs of Helmond will attend the meeting ‘Enterprising Helmond innovates’. The main question is to what extent enterprising Helmond is innovative. These matters will be discussed together with four guests. One of these guests is Jeroen op ten Berg who will talk about GBO’s status in the region.

There will also be a Rabobank-edition of the innovative Power BIKE on display.

26.08.11 Economic Affairs of Helmond visits GBO

ESeven employees of Helmond’s Economics Department have paid a working visit to GBO DESIGN. Besides a presentation on the design process and viewing the 3D printer, mainly opportunities in terms of innovation for Helmond-based businesses were discussed. Starting points were new developments such as Food & Automotive, the Designweek, Food4Future, Foodpark, Groeiversneller (Growth Accelerator) and the Cultural Capital. Up.

06.07.11 First Tulpis installed

The first Tulpis were delivered and installed last June. The Tulpi was initiated by Marco Manders, GBO is responsible for design, ergonomics, engineering and various prototypes.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs was amongst the first to receive Tulpis. Also Tulpis were placed in the public landscape: three pieces in the Bokzijlpark in Vathorst and up to 5 seats at ‘De Lucht’ diner. 5 Tulpis have now even been exported to Japan!

29.06.11 GBO develops toys for children’s clinic

On behalf of the Eindhoven-based Yksi Design, GBO provided for the engineering of children’s toys at the children’s clinic and various waiting rooms in the Maasstad Hospital (Dutch only), Rotterdam. The toy consists of a huge crane and containers, of which the latter was engineered by GBO. The typical Rotterdam toys with several appearances form a welcome distraction for the children in the hospital. Up.

27.06.11 Van der Hoorn presents Circulo

On Friday, June 24th, the 75th anniversary of Van der Hoorn bending technologies (Dutch only) from Geldrop was celebrated. In honor of the anniversary Circulo, which was designed by GBO, was presented. The Circulo is street furniture which is divisible and therefore can be placed around a tree or a custom designed plant pot. Up.

23.06.11 GBO wins DPC Award for third time

Already for the third time GBO has won a Design Pressure Cooker (DPC) of Syntens. Previously GBO has proven to be successful together with Ergonomique, GPG Stirrups and Dolphys Medical, where the sessions with the two latter were awarded with the first prize. Also on last Tuesday, June 21, the Pressure Cooker was successfully completed with Peter Matla and Wim van Peperstraten of Footlooze in Valkenswaard (NL).

During this session a mobile step for horse riders was designed, based on an existing children’s stair of Footlooze. Again it was a golden match and GBO and Footlooze have been awarded the first prize! The goal is now to present the first working prototype at the International Concours Valkenswaard, from 12 to 14 August. Up.

21.06.11 Power BIKE helps Rabobank riders

Since December 2010 riders of the Rabobank cycling team have been training with prototypes of the Power BIKE. The bike’s vibration makes for a huge increase in muscle activity of all the involved muscles. The device is not only ideal for training but also for warming up before cycling. read more… Up.

20.06.11 GBO at Design Week Kortrijk

From 22 to 25 June the Week of Design is being held in Kortrijk. GBO will attend the exhibition with the Powerplate Power BIKE. www.weekvanhetontwerpen.be/2011

14.06.11 GBO sponsors Food Design of HAS with Cadmes’ SolidWorks

Since 2010 GBO sponsors the Food Design department of HAS Den Bosch 3D SolidWorks of Cadmes. In addition to sponsoring, teachers in Packaging Design receive courses of designers and engineers of GBO. Last Thursday an intensive session has taken place at GBO which the teachers found very instructive.

According to Jacques Gramser of GBO there is a mutual interest in this situation, students and teachers continue to inspire us. Up.

08.06.11 Power Plate opens Research institute

Power Plate opens the first research institute in the world that is wholly engaged in the research of the effects of vibration training. Recently, Power Plate has developed the Power BIKE together with GBO.

With the support of Power Plate International the Power Plate Research Institute on Vibration Training is established in the Centre for Sports and Exercise Science at the University of Greenwich in Great Britain. Up.

23.05.11 GBO sponsors Artimond

GBO sponsors Artimond GBO has again selected the art festival Artimond (Dutch only) to support financially. Together with teachers and the organization of Artimond, GBO has guided the In-& Outdoor Design students from the Groene Campus (Green Campus, Dutch only) in a project. The results of this project, with the theme ‘Connecting’ will be shown on May 29 under the bridge at the Castle of Helmond. Up.

26.04.11 GBO exhibits at International Automotive Congress

On May 16 and 17, the International Automotive Congress will be held at the TU Eindhoven (TU/e) for the eighth time. The two day event is organized by the City of Eindhoven, TU/e and the Strategic Platform for Intelligent Traffic Systems (SPITS). During the fair, Eindhoven and Helmond will serve as an open platform for the international automotive industry to demonstrate its latest technologies. GBO will also attend the exhibition and can be found at booth 15. Here, GBO will present its vision for the future of mobility. Up.

13.04.11 GBO Projects on Materials Engineering

GBO Projects on Materials Engineering On May 25 and 26, the exhibition Materials Engineering will be held in Eindhoven. The exhibition offers a clear and transparent business-to-business platform for material and product technology. The theme of this 10th edition is: “Functional & Smart Materials”.

GBO Projects will also attend the trade fair where exhibitors focus on decision makers of a broad and specific audience involved in the use of materials / techniques in product development and manufacturing. 08.04.11 PowerBIKE at the FIBO

From 14 until April 17 Power Plate will exhibit the by GBO designed PowerBIKE at the FIBO fair in Essen, Germany. FIBO is the biggest trade show for fitness, wellness and health. Every year more than 560 exhibitors from 38 countries present their products on nearly 80,000 sqm in 13 halls towards about 53,000 visitors from more than 100 countries. Power Plate can be found in Hall 3, stand A15.

Today, the first Design Summit is held in Brussels. The summit is an event where all stakeholders of the ‘design world’ in Flanders come together for a dialogue with politicians. The closing event of the summit is Humin, the first project of the Humanovation association, an initiative by the City of Genk, Design region Kortrijk and Flanders InShape. read more… Up.

The article is about the development which started a number of years ago, the current state of electric vehicles and electromotion in the near future. 18.03.11 Geesa introduces Haiku at ISH

Geesa has introduced a new collection of bathroom accessories under the name ‘Haiku’ on the ISH in Frankfurt. The range of accessories is designed by Geesa in collaboration with Marcel Wanders. GBO is responsible for engineering the range of over 40 different items.

Both smooth and organic forms as different materials - polished chrome, white ceramic and dark wenge wood - can be combined in this range. The Haiku collection consists of chrome and wooden shelves, glass holders, towel rings, toilet roll holders, toilet brush holders, various hooks, soap dispensers and vases. Additional articles are a bath handle, mirror, champagne cooler, tea light holder, candleholders and a photo frame. Up.

04.03.11 Smeva introduces new product range

Smeva introduced a new product range on the Euroshop fair in Düsseldorf. The range was designed by GBO within a range of specific requirements. The series exists of a knife holder, a paper storage, a salad tray holder, a cutting board holder, a paper roll holder and a bag hook. However, due to universal design and working principle, virtually unlimited accessories can be developed. Up.

04.02.11 GBO purchases rapid prototype machine

As of March 3 GBO will have the latest rapid prototyping machine from Objet. The machine uses ABS to create highly accurate models for visual aids, fit and assembly testing and functional applications. Up.

At the invitation of the Rabobank, a number of guests have attended a roundtable at GBO in Helmond. The by GBO facilitated discussion had the theme of insurance in the business market. The brainstorm room and pantry at GBO offered an excellent ambiance to add a creative twist to these topics. We thank the Rabobank for the delightful lunch. Up.

25.01.11 GBO Projects gives lecture for Eindhoven

On January 24th, Rob Crins of GBO Projects has given a lecture for the ‘Entrepreneurs Square’ of the city of Eindhoven. The presentation, with the theme ‘Creative and Innovative Enterprising’, was held in the Kennedy Business Center. GBO Projects presented a number of successful cases that have been achieved in Asia. With over one hundredandfifty participants the reading was a success for the organization. Up.

10.01.11 Team GBO reinforced!

Design professional Bert Govers has joined the team at GBO. Bert has worked among other projects on the design of an electric scooter, Nuage.

This innovative e-scooter features distinctive clean lines and has attention for every detail. The objective was to combine the technical, ergonomic and aesthetic elements into a new form of electric driving. The successful combination of these fields of tension makes the Nuage the answer in the growing segment of electric scooters.

The Nuage is exhibited from the beginning of 2011 at GBO in Helmond. Up.
